I get inspired by looking at abstracted artwork. Such as abstract sculptures, paintings, collages, drawings..whatever. I love seeing the lines and shapes people use and try to figure out the reason they used them the way they did. Looking at something that someone else has done, allows me to create a story myself about it. By doing this, I come up with my own idea, most of the time it being totally different then what I was originally looking at. I also like looking at the colors other people use and try and figure out why they used them, whether to set a certain mood or feeling, or if it just doesn't make any sense at all. Most of the time I have no clue why someone used the colors they used, but I like trying to think of some sort of feeling I'm supposed to get by looking at those colors, and it makes me come up with more ideas from the feeing I created myself from their picture.
Usually I do not get inspired from abstract, but what I do get inspired by is the types of media and colors other artists use. By seeing the different types of media it allows me to get creative with the types of supplies. You can really use anything to creat art you just have to get creative.
ReplyDeleteAbstract Art also makes my imagination stir. I come up with stories and reason behind pieces of work. Some good abstract artists that i enjoy personally are Christos Magganas, Marek Denko and Adam Torczynski.
ReplyDeleteI think abstract art is a great inspiration! It's easy to make it into anything you want and I think that could be really inspiring for your art; i especially think your paper collages could benefit from this art :)
ReplyDeleteI think this is a legitimate inspiration. I'm glad that you allow yourself to "think" about others' artwork and their thoughts behind creating it. I think that thought process allows you to grow as an artist.
