I am very excited! I thought that I would have hardly any projects that I would be able to turn in for my AP exam, but I have everything I need as long as I get these last two projects done. Although, I don't like two of my projects, so I am wanting to redo those if I have time. The extra art classes I took this year really helped me out. I got most a lot more breadth pieces from using assignments that I did from my drawing class, and also a couple photography pictures. It also gave me a couple more concentration pieces which is what I was really needing. So all my freaking out was for nothing:)

3 different things that I have learned this year, would be that I have learned and thought of different mediums to use. I have also gotten way better at doing still lifes, and I believe that I have improved some on my proportions. I feel like i could still improve on my figure drawing skills. I have trouble drawing faces to look like the person and not just a cartoon. in 3 years, I'm hoping to be finishing my degree in interior design. I am going to continue in art, but not in the same way that I am now. I'm going to keep doing art by decorating offices and houses, and creating store layouts and I would love to design structures as well.  It class has taught me different things that I never knew before, such as working with collage, conte, pastels, graphite, charcoal, and the difference that different types of paper make. This class has also taught me time management. Although I still struggle with it, I have relized that I need to set a time frame and a goal for myself for each project that I do to get things turned in on time.

I think that I want to start exploring different textures with collages. For my next project, I want to use material. I was thinking that I would go buy some material, and die it to the colors and shades that I want and make a picture the same way I do with paper, just this time it would be with material. Although I haven't completely thought it through yet because I am not sure how to make all of the little pieces of cloth stick to form a picture. Obviously I cannot use Elmer's glue, because the glue spots on the cloth would look awful and there would be no way to hide it. I'm thinking I might try and stretch material over a canvas board and use that as my canvas and background so I don't have to put a lot of time and money into creating a background to go with it. I also really want to do a collage with beads...but i probably wont get to that because that would take an enormous amount of time. If any of you have any ideas for some different mediums I could use to get some different textures let me know!

I feel like this year has gone by so slowly. I am running out of ideas for projects and I feel like I don't have very many yet that I like. At the beginning of the year I was excited to do projects everyday, and now I have to say that I am starting to dread it. I have switched what I want to be to an interior designer, so I don't really need my portfolio, which is why I think I am having such a problem getting inspired to make something. I think I am burning myself out with art, but at the same time I still love it. I think that once school is over and I wont have so much going on at once, I will be able to enjoy making art again because I won't feel stressed over it.

upcoming shows!

I'm really excited about the upcoming shows, but I am also a little nervous. I am afraid that I am not going to have very many pieces to submit because the only ones I like have already been in a show, and I don't really have any more right now that I think would make it in. If I had to choose which ones I would submit, I would choose my day and night and season collages. I am hoping that I can collage a couple more pieces by the beginning of april so I will have some more to try and get into the ones in april and may. I don't think my drawings and still life's are as strong as other peoples so I would only try to get my collages submitted if I could.

I tried throwing on the wheel yesterday...and failed. I had a bowl going that was starting to look okay and I was getting really excited about it, but then it collapsed. I tried 3 times and none of them worked:( This makes me really sad because I really really want to make a tea pot on the wheel, but if I can't even throw a basic cup or bowl..  I will probably not be able to throw my tea pot. However, It was only my first time, so hopefully the next time will go better and I will throw something that I will be able to keep:)

I like making collages and the reason I do is because I like the overall look of them when their finished. Also for me I think they are somewhat easier then trying to paint or use pastels or charcoal or any other medium because the colors are already there, you just have to find them. Although I really have trouble coming up with ideas of different things to make and come up with a reason behind it.
